NIPC Welcomed the Appointees and
Parents of the Class of 2012
It was very good weather, the time was right
and the turnout of 17 Appointees and their families was larger than the 13 from
last year's dinner. It looks like USAFA will be receiving another fine
class of Illinois Cadets.

The
first Appointee to arrive was Laura Castanada & her family from
Orland Park. Their picture is on the left. Also there was
Thomas Kashul and his family from Park Ridge. Their picture is on the
right.
Brian
Lindsay, a Prep School Appointee and future Falcon football player was there
with his parents. His mother mentioned what a thrill it was to get the
call from Coach Calhoun offering him the opportunity to play for the Fighting
Falcons. We wish our best to Brian.

Amanda Johnson and her parents were there
from Frankfort, IL. That was quite memorable as she came straight from her
graduation ceremony at Marian Catholic.
Also, 5 currents cadets were there and they
did a magnificent job of mingling with the Class of 2012 and their
family
and answering questions prior to the dinner beginning. It was very good.
This is Cadet Joel Primm, Class of 2011, speaking with the family of Erin Nyre.
Erin was at the Prep School last year and will be in the Class of 2012.
Interesting note, her grandfather who was there, is a USAFA graduate from the
Class of 1959, meaning he was in the first class. A true Firstie!!
He was on the football team that beat the Big 10 Champion Iowa and the SEC
Champion. He is in the right of the picture in the tan jacket talking with
C4C Joel Primm.
The Program

The Color Guard practicing.

Signing in.

Opening the dinner with the Pledge to the
Flag.

The Cadets also answered questions posed by
the Appointees and their family.

There will be more pics added over the next
few days. Also a video of Guest Speaker Colonel Gail Colvin,
Vice-Commander of Cadets, USAFA, giving the stats for the Class of 2012.
So come back and visit.
We encourage all Appointees for the Class of
2012 to join the NIPC and become involved and active. We are supporting
our Cadets.
